The inimitable master American portraitist, Fran Lew, has just completed a portrait of Marilyn Monroe, titled, “Marilyn–Like No Other”. Using her trademark charcoal and white pastel, Lew’s deft handling of the medium becomes her subject matter like no other artist in recent memory. Her work pays homage to the great John Singer Sargent — Lew was represented by Grand Central Gallery in New York City — a gallery which Sargent was co-founder at the turn of the last century with another American master, Robert Henri.

This new work, not unlike Lew’s last portrait of the star, “Marilyn, Unzipped”, brings to life the star power, and the innocent knowing, of this magnetic and magnificent movie star.
