This rare, limited-edition artwork was published by Linda Jones Enterprises from the recent landmark release of Disney Films into the public domain.
The inspiration for this work of art came from the Walt Disney Studios animated film 'Steamboat Willie' which was considered a landmark in animation history and marked the beginning of Disney's empire. It was the first synchronized sound cartoon that premiered at New York's Colony Theater on November 18, 1928 (Mickey Mouse's official birthday).
Critics likened Mickey Mouse to “a blend of cinematic figures including Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, and Fred Astaire.” “Mickey was seen as embodying Chaplin's championing of the underdog, Fairbanks's adventurous spirit, and Astaire's grace and freedom from gravity’s laws.”
