This rare, limited-edition artwork was published by Linda Jones Enterprises from the recent landmark release of Disney Films into the public domain.
The inspiration for this work of art came from the 1928 Walt Disney Studios animated film 'Steamboat Willie' which is considered a landmark in animation history marking the beginning of Disney's empire. It was the first synchronized sound cartoon that premiered at New York's Colony Theater on November 18, 1928 (Mickey Mouse's official birthday).
"Plane Crazy" introduced the Disney characters, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and also paid homage to Charles Lindbergh's flight. This marked Mickey's debut, portrayed differently from his modern image, as spikier and prone to tantrums. The film, co-directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks, showcases Mickey's early characterization as distinct from his later, more affable persona.
The Limited Edition artwork is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
