The Official Chuck Jones Virtual Experience is pleased to offer CHUCK JONES fans "Furry-ous 1949," a limited-edition artwork by Chuck Jones.
The legendary Academy Award–winning animation director and artist Chuck Jones (1912–2002) reshaped animation through sharp wit, expressive character design, and sophisticated humor. His work continues to influence animation, fine art, and popular culture, earning him a permanent place among the most important figures of the Golden Age of Animation.
This limited-edition artwork was created from Chuck Jones’ original pre-production gouache on paper paintings, gifted to his friend Lt. Jack Hill in 1949. The artwork draws directly from the inspiration behind Fast and Furry-ous, the animated short that introduced the legendary Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote.
In 1949, Lt. Jack Hill, serving in the Army Air Corps, wrote to Jones after noticing pilots using “beep-beep” over their radios—a serendipitous echo of the new characters. Chuck described the creative genesis in a letter to Hill, crediting writer and gagman Michael Maltese for the iconic coyote-and-Road-Runner chase, a concept that has delighted audiences for generations.
Furry-ous 1949 captures the energy, timing, and inventive humor of Chuck Jones’ original vision. Add the companion work Fast 1949 to your animation art collection to complete this historic duo celebrating the origins of two of Looney Tunes’ most enduring characters.
Every Furry-ous 1949 Limited Edition artwork is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
