Steve Barton

Disney Fine Artist Steve Barton is celebrated for his vibrant coastal style, where luminous color, expressive brushwork, and a sense of movement bring his dreamlike compositions to life. Inspired by the beauty of the California coastline, Barton transforms familiar settings into energetic scenes filled with warmth, optimism, and personality.

Originally from New Hampshire, Barton was inspired to paint by his mother, an oil painter herself. After studying at the Rhode Island School of Design, he traveled to the West Coast, where he developed the distinctive style that has become his signature. Today, his work is represented in more than 35 galleries across the United States and Puerto Rico.

Barton’s artwork brings beloved characters including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Stitch, Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner and more into vibrant tropical worlds, blending character-driven storytelling with his unmistakable coastal aesthetic. His bold textures and luminous palettes create artwork that feels both nostalgic and fresh.

In 1999, Barton created his signature “Wavy” concept, designing the frame as an integral part of the artwork. The sculptural frame and painting work together as a single piece, subtly changing in tone and dimension as the viewer moves around the room.
