Tommy Cat

Tommy is the young kitten at the center of The Night Watchman (1938), the first cartoon Chuck Jones directed. When his father, the kitchen’s night watchman, falls ill, Tommy takes over the job, and a gang of rats moves in the moment they learn a kitten is on guard. Small, sweet and easily pushed around, Tommy finally finds his nerve and stands up to them. The film marks the start of Jones’s directing career.
